Hi Mike Your book is excellent. It is a well laid out compilation of truly useful tools informed by your own experiences. I found it easy to read, entertaining as well as educational. You won’t be surprised that I was well familiar with many of the tools and their use but most of the content was new to me. I would not hesitate to call it recommended reading. I wish you had written it during my working life. I hope you have a motivated publisher because I think it deserves to reach some best seller list of management books. Well done and good luck.Les MillerRetired C-suite executive, major global organisation
Great book that is an easy read with tools that can be used over and over. I find myself referring back to the book and the resources Mike has provided as I move through my business and personal life. Well done Mike, this book complements your coaching and is an ongoing reminder of the benefits that can be achieved when we have the right mindset.Trevor McBayDirector at Solvable
Right now, the world is desperate for great leaders. There is much discontent with the quality, standard and integrity of our leaders in big business, government and institutions globally. We crave effective leadership, and struggle to thrive when it is absent. That is why Mike Cameron’s “The Emerging Leader” is such a critical book for our time. With battle-tested strategies and decades of experience, Mike shares his life’s work to help us better understand, embrace and become effective leaders. Personally, my favourite writings in this book are Mike's anecdotes and story-telling of effective leadership in action. It feels like sitting around the camp-fire, learning from someone who has done the work to understand the truths of effective leadership. This book is of enormous value to anyone stepping up into leadership, or anyone seeking to take their leadership to new heights. Highly recommended.Dave ThompsonCEO and Publisher at Inspirational Book Writers
I have had the privilege of being coached by Mike, and completed the Emerging Leader program via virtual face-to-face sessions. Over my career to date, the progression into management has been expedient, and learning leadership skills is not an easy feat. The course has broadened my perspective, provided insight about my own traits/preferences, and helped me to refine non-technical skills. The progress that I have experienced in such a short time frame as a result of Mike’s coaching is nothing short of astounding, and I can confidently say that this would have taken me years on my own. Mike has a great ability to listen and ask informed questions, helping one to make their own realisations and promote positive growth. Though the course is intensive and requires hard work, it is well worth the time and energy.Emma LuckNurse Educator | Perioperative Services
A fabulous book. Clearly set out, easy to follow and lots of self-learning as well as shared opportunity. You have my favourite quote at the end of your guideline 1 chapter summary ''Before you can understand, motivate and lead others, you must first understand and lead yourself'' Paul J Meyer 👍 I believe your book is an ongoing resource/reference for everyone’s bookshelf. Congratulations and all the best for your next book.Marilyn BrienProfessional Mentor at MB Mentoring, Coffs Harbour
My relationship with Mike Cameron started a long time ago, around 2011, when I did a leadership program with him as both my course facilitator and my coach. In late 2020, after hearing rumours that Mike was about to publish a book, I was really curious to find out more. However, as soon he launched his book, he was kind enough to send me one of his first copies. What I really enjoyed is the fact that the book is like a guide/user manual for becoming a more effective leader, to work towards problem solving and/or establishing strategies for sustainable success. This book can be quickly read, reviewed and absorbed, stored on a bookshelf or just left on your desk for future reference - as a ''Go To'' tactical manual - in case you ever need to prepare for a leadership situation such as ‘having a courageous discussions’ or ‘addressing a lack of motivation by a team member’. But, at the same time, this book can be used as an improvement/transformational framework - a sort of ‘mini’ leadership career coaching guide - that can take you through a journey to become a more effective and proficient leader. Once there, you will find that you have the ability to provide a significant difference within your workplace environment and make a positive impact on your team. This book has my recommendation and, in fact, I keep it on my desk for reference, in case I need a ''coach'' on demand… It should be on your desk too! Just finished reading this bible. I kept thinking I wished I had this in the beginning but then realised having experienced all of these different training modalities and personality tests this is truly a great reference book. One that I am sure will be revisited many times over. It’s like having 30 years of management training summariesed in one place. Great reference book... and I learnt a few bee things too... which is what it is all about.Jane Slack-SmithFinance/Property Commentator
Hi Uncle Mike (Unc). I just wanted to say how proud I am of your achievements, particularly with your book. I am well on my way with reading it and the timing has been invaluable. I received a national practice leader award at my work place a few years ago and at the time (although really honoured by it) I minimised it’s message to me and found myself thinking on more than one occasion ''I’m not sure they awarded that correctly''. But I’m gaining some insight and I truly value and aspire to good leadership in my role and my journey ahead. Thanks for some beautiful reminders and some new food for thought. I’m proud to say that we share some DNA. 🥰Jo CameronMental Health Professional, and my Niece
If you are serious about climbing the management steps to get to your leadership role, then Mike Cameron’s book, The Emerging Leader incorporating the 7 Core Characteristics of Effective Leadership is a must have. In my view, a down to earth learning method to be used on the job throughout your career. Today, collaboration is the in-word and this book will bring that into great focus without which social cohesion will not occur, and leadership will not be achieved.Terry Oakes-AshOAM FAICD
The Emerging Leader is a vital resource for new and experienced leaders. There are plenty of new and so-called experienced leaders out there who could do with such tutelage. I really liked the way the book is set out, with the combination of theory, practice and instruction in a coaching context. It is easy to read and apply in real life. There is sage advice for those who are ready to listen.Gerry MellasManager, Contracts and Governance, Victorian Managed Insurance Authority
